How Salary Tax Works in Lithuania
Employee Contributions
In Lithuania, employees pay Personal Income Tax (PIT) at 20%, health insurance at 6.98%, and pension & social security at 12.52% — all deducted from the gross salary before the employee receives their take-home pay.
Employer Contributions
Employers pay an additional Social Security (Sodra) contribution of 1.77% on top of the gross salary. This means the total employment cost to the employer is slightly above the gross salary agreed with the employee.
What is Gross to Net?
Gross salary is the total amount before any deductions. Net salary (take-home pay) is what the employee actually receives after income tax, health insurance, and pension contributions are deducted.
EOR Service Fee
When using an Employer of Record like EOR Baltic, a monthly service fee of €349 per employee covers full payroll management, tax filing, compliance, and HR administration — with no setup or offboarding charges.
